DESCRIPTION:\nThe Board of the Hudson Valley Estate Planning Council is excited to announce that registration is now open for the September 22, 2026 Dinner Meeting at Powelton Club\n \nPlease note that the cocktail reception will run from 5:00 pm – 5:45 pm with passed hors d’ oeuvres and a cash bar.  Presentation to begin at 6:15 pm\n \nDate: September 22, 2026\n \nTime:  5:00 pm – 8:30 pm\n \nLocation:  The Powelton Club, 29 Old Balmville Rd, Newburgh NY 12550\n \nSpeaker: Jason Packer | Founder & CEO Stride - Your Family Business Community\n \nTopic:  Lessons from Four Generation in the Family Enterprise\n \nMy Background:\n \nI am a fourth-generation family business leader. I grew up in my family’s enterprises, worked on Capitol Hill, earned an MBA from American University’s Kogod School of Business, and came home to serve as CEO of Hill & Markes — growing it from $65M to $125M before facilitating a private equity exit in 2022 at four times the industry average valuation. I was the one who negotiated the end of a 115-year-old, four-generation enterprise, and that experience now shapes everything I do.\n \nI founded Stride out of a need I experienced firsthand in my own family business — the need for peer support, trusted guidance, and access to the right resources at the right time. Finding the right estate planners, advisors, and professional partners was not always easy, and I knew other family business owners faced the same challenge. Stride Family Business Alliance is my answer to that: a peer community and advisory platform for multigenerational family enterprises in the Capital Region that connects families with the educational programs, peer relationships, and trusted professionals they need to thrive. I also work alongside Peter Begalla of JPB Consulting Group, where we partner on family business advisory engagements across governance, succession, and family dynamics.\n \nWhy This Topic Matters:\n \nFamily enterprise is one of the most rewarding — and complex — areas of practice. The technical work is sophisticated. The relationships run deep. And the conversations your members have with clients around ownership, legacy, and transition are among the most meaningful any advisor will ever have.\n \nPassed Hors d' Oeuvres:\n Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail with Bloody Mary Cocktail Sauce Crostini with Whipped Ricotta and Roasted Butternut Squash Carmelized Apple and Roasted Pecan Crostini with Goat Cheese  Bacon Wrapped Scallops \nFirst Course:  Pre-Set Salads\n Mesclun Greens, Grape Tomatoes, Cucumber, Carrots, Red Onion, Herbed Croutons, Housemade Balsamic Vinaigrette Warm Artisan Rolls and Whipped Butter \nDinner options include Once Glass of house Wine or Beer with Dinner:\n Eight Ounce Filet (No Rosemary) Wild Mushrooms, Braised Leeks, Black Truffle Demi-Glaze Chicken Scallopini - Long Stem Artichokes, Roasted Plum Tomatoes, Kalamata Olives, EVOO, Herbs Grilled Salmon Fillet - Lemon - Chervil Beurre Blanc Vegetarian Entrée – Wild Mushroom Wellington - Wild Mushroom and Quinoa Stuffed Portobello Mushroom, Roasted Brussel Sprouts \nDessert and Coffee Service:\n Apple - Caramel Cheesecake Whipped Cream     Family Style Cookies \n \n
